Interview with Chelsea

Chelsea is a model that I have been lucky enough to work with a few times. She is determined and has impressed me with her ability to deal with cold and uncomfortable locations to get the final image. She was kind enough to answer a few questions for Cross & Clove Photography.

Chelsea – Gothic Winter

  • How did you decide that you wanted to get into modeling?

When I took my high school senior pictures, I had a great time. I found modeling to be a fun and unique art form, and a way to express myself. When I saw a Facebook status about modeling in a zombie photo shoot, I jumped at the opportunity to participate in this unique form of expression again. That was how I found Cross and Clove Photoshoots, and have loved it ever since!

  •  How would you describe your modeling style?

I like to portray strong female characters. I seldom smile in photo shoots. I prefer to model strength, sadness, and anger rather than the typical smile, though a smile is definitely appropriate at times.

  •  What is it about modeling that you find fun and rewarding?

When I model, I am able to become a different person, if only for a little while. The ability to escape the daily troubles of life and become someone that is untouchable is very rewarding. I am able to draw strength in my own life, from the character I portray in the pictures. I am also able to express the feelings that I have in the modeling that I do. My fear and pain can be turned into art.

  • Do you have any advice for other aspiring models?

If you enjoy modeling then do it. Even if the photo shoots that you do are taken with a cell phone by some friends. Just have fun with it. Also, never believe that you have to be overtly sexual in order to be a good model. Sexuality is not based on clothing or promiscuous posing. Being sexy is an attitude, and the sexiest women are often the ones fully clothed.

  •  Is there anything you would like to add?

Modeling is about fun, not drama. Try to get along with other models and photographers. Anyone involved in the shoot is someone willing to help you do your best. Treat them with respect and you will be shown respect in return. Photo shoots are always more fun when based on mutual respect and love of the art.
